EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES

I often get asked, what is EFT?

EFT is also known as tapping or psychological acupressure, involves tapping specific points on the body, primarily on the head and the face, in a particular sequence. While doing this, the person focuses on the issue that they wish to treat

According to EFT International, the technique can be helpful for people with: Anxiety, depression, chronic pain, PTSD, Trauma, weight issues, addictions, phobias, and other troubling problems. It works fast and oftentimes with long-lasting results.

EFT TERMS:

MERIDIANS = 12 major energy pathways that run on each side of the body, one side mirroring the other. Each Meridian corresponds to an internal organ. Responsible for all of the body’s major organ systems including the nervous system, circulatory, respiratory, immune, skeletal, muscular and digestive systems.

Amygdala = Responsible for fight, flight, freeze and flop responses in the body. The non-thinking part of the brain releases the stress hormone cortisol and stimulates the release of adrenaline.

Hippocampus = Is the memory center of the brain associated with fear.

Acupressure = Tapping on certain meridians allows the amygdala to relax, thus; the hippocampus can now record the memory. You are focusing on a safe to engage! This process alters the neuropathway in the brain and freeing formal emotional intensity.

Deep Breathing = This is a valuable exercise that can help physically relax the body and is also used to calm any intense physical or emotional responses. Should they arise take a deep breath and hold it for a few seconds, then breathe out slowly and forcefully like blowing out a candle.

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE

EFT is short for emotional freedom technique and is a form of tapping that stimulates the acupressure points within the body. Tapping works by activating the non-thinking part of the brain known as the amygdala. The amygdala is the part of the brain that responds to your body’s negative reaction to fear. Fear initiates the fight or flight response which in turn triggers the release of a stress hormone known as cortisol. EFT is a holistic, non-invasive therapy that works by gently tapping on certain Meridian points of the body. It can help return you to a more centered state of being. EFT is an excellent tool to utilize before, after, or while undergoing other therapies. It opens the mind, body, and spirit to healing.

Traditional Talk Therapy vs. EFT

Traditional talk therapy usually requires multiple sessions to identify stressors affecting a client’s life and work.

More therapy sessions are needed to develop strategies and or solutions in hopes of decreasing the client’s severity of symptoms.

Traditional talk therapy sessions can take several months to obtain an appointment.

EFT does not require a licensed therapist. The client meets with an Accredited, Certified, EFT practitioner who has undergone vigorous and continued educational training.

Appointment times can be obtained in a quick/timely fashion often with little or no wait time. This is critical when working with clients dealing with stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic disorders, addictions, pain, phobias, or other pressing matters.

The EFT practitioner will guide the client to tap with their fingertips on specific points of the body (usually head, face, and torso) in a particular sequence. The client then focuses on the issue they wish to treat and often leaves appointment reporting significant and lasting relief of debilitating symptoms. The client often reports looking forward to subsequent follow up sessions. The client often reports a new sense of empowerment as these skills can be immediately applied at home.
